what happens to a transformer if we give DC supply?

Transformer has two windings primary & Secondary. When AC supply is applied across primary, due to the changing current flux will be produced & due to induction EMF will be induced in Secondary also.Whereas in case of DC there is no change in current & no induced EMF so the Transformer windings will get burnt.
